Environment Management Centre
The Environment Management Centre of the Indian Chamber of Commerce has been working for over a decade, catering to the needs of the industries in Eastern Region and making them sustainable. ICC-EMC has been bringing latest in the field of environment management to the industries by means of seminars, workshops and trainings as well as dedicated research to publish reports and newsletters on issues of sustainability and matters therein that contribute to business excellence.
The EMCs basic objective is to promote environment management as a tool for enhancing competitiveness and efficiency. It provides ISO 14000 consultancy and facilitation, has empanelled experts and interacts extensively with the Government and Pollution Control Boards as well as experts in NGOs, academic institutions, industry and other institutions. It has produced a unique CD-based database on environment legislations in India, and brings out an information-packed quartely newsletter Environment Watch.
The EMC was adjudged the Best Unconventional Project from among 65 participants at the World Chambers Competition held in Quebec, Canada in September 2003.
