ICC National Conference and 82nd Annual General Meeting
Indian Chamber of Commerce organized its National Conference and 82nd Annual General Meeting on 2nd July, 2010 at Hotel Oberoi Grand, Kolkata.
The annual event of the Chamber witnessed coming together of key Union Ministers, senior Central and State Government officials, industry captains and emerging entrepreneurs of the country. The event was graced by Shri Kamal Nath Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Govt of India; Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge (IC), Ministry of Coal, Statistics & Programme Implementation Govt of India; Mr P S Bhattacharyya, Chairman, Coal India Ltd; Dr. R P Goenka, Chairman Emeritus, RPG Group; Shri Sumit Bose, Secretary, Department of Disinvestment, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India and Shri Sunil Mitra, Secretary, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India who deliberated at length on possible ways to sustain double-digit growth rate in the economy through implementation of fast-paced sectoral reforms and stepping up investment in infrastructural development and manufacturing.
While acknowledging the role of Coal in addressing the ever-growing demand for power in the country, the speakers also felt that heavy investments in physical infrastructure on a public-private partnership basis coupled with proper implementation and supervision would help to resolve connectivity concerns in the economy.
ICC conferred its Lifetime Achievement Award on Dr. RP Goenka for his extensive contribution in developing the industrial base in the region.
